Proceeds go to Charity Group for Children, New Players Invited

This Saturday Dec. 9th, The Camaleon golf course at Mayakoba will be the site of major golf tournament for the benefit of Un Kilo de Ayuda (A kilo of help), a local charity group that feeds children in poor neighborhoods.

The host of the tournament is Remax Playa, a local real estate sales company in Playa del Carmen.  The Greg Norman designed golf course is probably the finest in the area.

El Camaleón Golf Course at the Mayakoba resort is Greg Norman's latest masterwork. The 7,000-yard layout is unique - not just to Mexico but to the entire world of golf. The course bends through three distinct landscapes - mangrove jungles, limestone canals and stunning, oceanfront stretches of sand. El Camaleón incorporates a cenote, a massive underground cavern, into the heart of the opening fairway.

The Children of Colonia Puerto Morelos need OUR help!

A note from Elizabeth Gregg at Elimar Properties

Dear Good Friends, Mario and I have been living in Playa Paraiso for 3 years.  Our house keeper Viki Perez has been with us since day one.  She not only helps 2 busy Realtors by keeping our house clean but she has also helped a new mom (me) raise our beautiful 2 year old daughter Leila.  Vicki has been through several health crisis and many personal family hardships in the time we have known her and we have always done the most we could to help her in every way possible.  Viki means a lot to us.

Last year she told us about an event in Colonia Puerto Morelos (West-Side of 307).  Every December 24th the town gets together to give each child under 5 years of age a Christmas gift.  Most of the children will not receive anything in their home, Viki told us........"...its just a little way to show the children that someone cares."   She doesn´t have enough to create a recognized affiliated event, so its just a group of neighbors who do their best.  Last year she was embarrassed to ask for help and many of the little ones were turned away without a gift!  Its difficult to hold back tears when you think of those sad little faces.

Political Instability in Mexico?

Mexico Change of Government Concerns Investors

by Tom Budniak

I am getting a lot emails with concerns of political instability in Mexico  like this one ....  " With the recent change of the political scene in Mexico, what effect will this have on foreigners that want to buy property? "

In reality,  the way the Mexican constitution is established and due to the GATT and Free Trade agreements,  the recent political issues in Mexico have not affected our business in any way shape or form.  The Mexican Fidecomiso (or Trust) system of foreign ownership along our coasts  protects foreign investors and assures security of any property investment involved.  Additionally, the title of said property is deposited in what is most likely an international bank such as Citibank, BBV,  HSBC or Scotia Bank - these world known banks assume all responsibility of title towards the purchasor.
